VIDEO PRESENTATION and Q&A
We are excited to share "Threshold" with you on Sunday June 27 from 5-6pm ET. The program will feature two works that were set to premiere on the company in March 2020. In May, we regathered the company to rehearse the works and film them, bringing these beautiful pieces into your own home!
"Twilight," choreographed by Artistic Director Perry and with costumes designed by Erica Johnston, is set to a selection of Chopin's etudes and nocturnes. The work breaks down traditional classical lines into imaginative partnering sequences that produce a realm of deep, expansive contemporary movement.
"Just Above the Surface," choreographed by Yin Yue and with costumes designed by Mondo Morales, is set to music by contemporary composer Michael Banabila. The work was created in 2019 as part of a residency program commissioned by Western Michigan University; this world premiere explores the electric connection of human interaction—the sensations that pull people together or apart.
Many of us—and perhaps the dance world in particular—feel ourselves on the threshold of something new. We hope the two works in this program speak to the difficulty of this last year but also to the resilience and hope needed to sustain life on the threshold.
If you would like to support this production and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company's future, we are suggesting a $25 donation for your "ticket." All contributions are tax-deductible as provided by law. Feel free to give at the link below or experience this special performance as a gift from us to you!
